What to Expect

Are you looking for a gymnastics session but don't know what to expect? Here's a typical timeline of our sessions. Each session last for 55 minutes and incorporates a range of skills, movements and shapes.

1.    0 - 2 minutes - Registration/Welcome. Our gymnasts are welcomed into our sessions and registered before getting started.

2.   2 - 12 minutes - Warm Up. A fun filled, pulse-raising activity incorporating a number of gymnastics skills, shapes and movements designed to ensure our gymnasts are physically and mentally ready.

3.   12 - 20 minutes - Stretch. Stretching helps to further ready the body for physical activity, reducing the risks of muscular injuries and allowing our gymnasts to become more flexible to aid with learning new skills and improving current ones.

4.   20 - 35 minutes - Rotation 1. Each week our gymnasts will use 2 different apparatus. This is to allow for a larger number of turns to allow for better skill building and acquisition. Our rotations are arranged to complement each other during the week in order to reduce over stressing our gymnasts. The majority of skills that are learned in gymnastics aren't exclusive to a single apparatus and can be used and adapted in a number of different areas.

5.   35 - 50 minutes - Rotation 2. This is the second of our rotations for our gymnasts.

6.   50 - 55 minutes - Cool Down/Warm Down.  During this time, the gymnasts are brought together and have their final turns before having their Reward Booklets stamped. They are then dismissed to parents/guardians/carers by one of our coaches.

This is an example of a typical session for our school-aged recreational groups. There are occasionally variations in the early parts of a session where we may work as a whole group on a specific skill that is our focus for the week. This is beneficial as the gymnasts can have a variety of coaches available to help with this skill before starting their main rotations.
